Insta Viral Test
I was just going through my WP installations to keep the updates up to date and realised it has been a while since I posted here.
Too many things have happened since my last post but the most recent events have been the purchasing of the Easy Member Pro developers licence.
I thought it was a good idea at the time and had great plans for building sites both for myself and for customers.
Unfortunately the owner sold the script and whilst the new owners have promised many improvements I haven’t seen much at all happening.
The current version is still usable and creates great membership sites but in my opinion you should never make false promises.
I have made quite a few sites for customers of my buddy Stu Stirling and the Complete Newbie Training theme seems to be popular. You can check out my template at http://www.complete-newbie-training.com .
Other membership sites I have built are:
I have also been busy running Stuart’s support and building other sites for his customers. This brings it’s own challenges and because most of the people who can’t build their own sites themselves have little computer experience there are numerous problems like just getting the correct information from them before I can make a start. It is the nature of the beast and I have just got to be patient and wait for them to respond.
Amazingly though, there are some who pay and don’t follow up by getting in touch and even after numerous emails from different email addresses hoping one will get through the spam filter they still don’t reply.
Well, that’s a brief explanation of what I am/have been up to and hopefully I will maintain my presence here as I originally intended to do.
It would be great if you let me know how your journey is going in the comments.
Having built two membership sites using Profits Theme I had to check out the new plugin from the creators.
It is called PT Instant and it allows you to create corporate style sales pages and different types of squeeze pages.
Now, maybe because I already used Profits Theme and I was used to it’s design, I found it really easy to use. I will admit to that not usually being the case when I try something new. I usually have to go through things a couple of times before it sinks in.
Call me stupid. Call me Nancy if it makes you feel better, but with PT Instant I got it in an Instant! See what I did there?
I hate creating sales pages and I probably would have more of my own products in the marketplace if I found sales page creation easy.
Also, the cost of having mini site graphics created is another reason that PT Instant appeals. When you are shelling out over $100 to have the graphics created and then you have to sit down and create the sales copy it can be a time consuming and costly process.
PT Instant allows you to add as much content or as little as you please. If you are creating a corporate style sales page you just have to add your products benefits and you are off.
Obviously, for the more creative amongst us, you can still add your sales pitch and make it in to a long drawn out (yawn) sales page if you must.
Come on, have you ever started to read a sales page and by the time you got to the end you forgot what it is you might be buying? Or is it just an age thing?
Anyhow, I bought it at the launch price of $47 and I would say it is a bargain. If you are reading this and the price has gone up to $97 then I would say it is still a bargain.
Making squeeze pages is so easy to do and you can make those scenic background ones in minutes. Personally I think they could have come up with some better backgrounds than they have but you can always add your own to make it completely unique.
Do you use an exit splash on your sites? I have a number of sites that uses Dave Guindon’s Exit Splash and whilst they can be annoying when overused they do work.
With Exit Splash you have to create the code to add to your website and upload the php file to your server. With PT Instant you just tick a box and add the URL to take them to on exit. You can change the warning message to whatever you like. It really is easy to do.
Now, maybe I should have mentioned this at the start of the post but PT Instant only works on WordPress blogs. I think because I said ‘new plugin’ I assumed you would know what I was talking about. If you already knew what I was talking about I apologize for this sentence. If you didn’t know that I meant it was a WordPress Plugin and you got this far to only realize you don’t do WordPress and this plugin is useless to you then you need to get WordPressing asap.
Yesterday I had a little play with it (behave). I created a new sales page for my Traffics Cool site and whilst it is not completely finished it looks a lot better than it did before. http://www.traffics-cool.com.
That took me a couple of hours to do and was a stress free experience not like my usual hair tearing experiences with other sales pages.
I also did a quick squeeze page which uses the share function. You can give something away in exchange for a share on Facebook or Twitter. That took me 10 minutes and whilst it is really basic I like it. http://www.viralreportprofits.com/traffic-insider/
You can get a lot more creative if you wish and all that remains for me to say is get yourself PT Instant and save yourself a lot of money and stress.
Check it out for yourself. Watch the video to see what it can do for you http://davewhitworth.com/likes/PTInstant.
Let me know what you think of it in the comments below.
It’s only a matter of time yeh?
I know the feeling so don’t worry if you are struggling along.
One thing I can assure you of, is that if you are convinced that the solution to your success is just around the corner. The next miracle product you buy will be the one to make you a fortune then I am sorry, I don’t think I can help you!
You need to change your mindset and stop wasting money on stuff that doesn’t quite do what you hoped it would.
Sure, there are some great things for sale out there. WP Plugins for example are being sold in their thousands and the reason is they usually do what the sales page says.
I just wish I was techy minded enough to be able to create my own!
So, if you are struggling along and not making money yet I can offer you some advice from my experience. Here is a breakdown of what I feel you need or need to do to start to make money online:
- Follow someone who has done what you want to do.
- Create your own product to sell.
- Build a list, preferably of buyers.
- Build a relationship with your list and offer good information and recommendations.
Let’s go through the list and see if we can get you started towards making money online. Even if you have already made a little money these methods will add another string to your bow.
Follow Someone Who Has Done What You Want To Do:
Finding yourself a mentor, in my opinion is the best piece of advice that I or anyone else could offer you. It needs some thought though and is not something to rush into blindly. I had a bad experience with a so called ‘mentor’ many years ago. That’s a story for another day so we won’t dwell on it.
If you have been searching for success this won’t be the first time you have heard that you must follow someone who has done that, been there and produced the T Shirt.
So why haven’t you got a mentor yet?
If I may be so bold as to offer my opinion on why you haven’t got a mentor already I would say it was down to the cost.
A good enough reason if there ever was one and because of the mindset of most people not one that is easily overcome. It is a bit of a catch 22 situation.
Shelling out between $2,000 and $5,000+ upfront is a big ask for a lot of people and that is why the so called ‘Guru’s’ are making fortunes from us. We can’t afford a big outlay or we don’t want to take that risk but we can afford to buy that $47 cash producing piece of software that has just been released.
Fast forward 2 years down the line and take a look at where we are at!
We are no further on than we was 2 years ago. We have a hard drive full of great stuff but it has cost us between $2,000 and $5,000+ to get it. We are not making much if any money online but it’s only a matter of time!
If that scenario rings any bells with you don’t let another 2 years go by. Do something about it now or you will learn the hard way just like I did!
After my first encounter with a mentor it took quite a leap of faith for me to sign up for another. It was by chance that I read an email from John Thornhill and found my way on to his coaching program. It cost at the time $4,000 and was I thought a bit expensive.
I think John has come to realize it was and now you can get better improved coaching for half the price. If you think you are ready for your own leap of faith you can check his current Partnership To Success Program out at http://davewhitworth.com/likes/P2SEasyPay
Create Your Own Product To Sell:
Creating your own product follows on nicely from my mentor advice above. Partnership To Success is all about product creation and when it is finished John will promote it to his huge list. This means your expenses so far are virtually guaranteed to be recouped.
If you decide you want to go it alone you still need to get some ‘Buy Now’ buttons in the marketplace or you will have to rely on affiliate offers.
Creating your own product doesn’t have to be as daunting as it might seem. You can get hold of great PLR products and turn them into your own product. You can easily put something for sale on JV Zoo once you have it finished.
You could even get some fresh PLR like the stuff that is created each month at PLR Monthly. They even provide sales and squeeze pages for you so if you wanted to go down that route you could have your first product for sale within hours.
Of course, it wouldn’t be unique as other members have access to it also but it is a start.
A great way to have your own product for sale is to purchase something with Master Resale Rights. Even better if the seller also gives you rights to edit it before you sell it.
For a good example of this take a look at http://www.multiprofitnow.com. This is something that John Thornhill and Dave Nicholson released to the public originally for $47 per month. A while ago they sold MRR to it and now I have it for sale on JV Zoo for $5.
Anyone who buys the product is given the opportunity to buy MRR for $17 which means they could have their own product for sale within hours again and this time it isn’t being given away all over like what happens to PLR products.
Also if you would like to earn 100% commissions on the front end and 50% on the upsell you can start by signing up at https://www.jvzoo.com/affiliates/info/24937.
It is best to sell your own stuff but sometimes selling things as an affiliate can bring huge rewards.
This brings me along to the next item on the agenda….
Build a List, Preferably of Buyers:
Building a list of only buyers would make the path to success so much easier than it is. Unfortunately building a list of buyers means you have to have something to sell. Do you see the recurring theme here?
You must get some ‘Buy Now’ buttons out there to build a list of buyers. In reality your list will consist of a mixture of buyers and freebie seekers and some that sit somewhere between the two.
It is however, imperative that at every opportunity you get as many email addresses as possible. Email marketing is not quite dead yet but it is getting harder to do.
Open rates and click through rates are in decline and it is harder than ever to get responsive subscribers on our lists. Having said that, building a list can still be a very productive way to earn money online.
When you are building your list it is important to keep buyers and freebie seekers in separate lists if you can. I use Aweber and by using automation rules I can set it to unsubscribe someone from one list when they subscribe to another.
Build a Relationship With Your List and Offer Good Information and Recommendations:
Once you start to build your list and your subscriber numbers increase it isn’t time to sit back and do nothing. You have to keep your subscribers interested in you and your emails and this can be a science in itself.
It is a good idea to offer your subscribers some great content and this doesn’t have to be a free gift every week. Good advice and information to help them is cool but don’t be afraid of throwing good offers in now and again.
People like to hear about whats happening and whats being released and if you recommend something and someone makes a purchase you make a commission and that is how you make money from your list.
Try to avoid the impersonal misleading emails if you can. Some marketers have a lot of success with this type of email but they have 100’s of thousands on their lists and don’t mind operating the churn and burn marketing strategy.
If you get anything from this post please let me know in the comments below.
Even if it is two years after you first read it and you just came back to thank me for saving you a fortune.
Recently I have been busy with branded reports.
I have created a couple of reports myself and put inside some affiliate links that others can re-brand.
I have also edited a few existing reports and made them brandable too.
Whilst I was doing it I thought it would be a good idea to make a free membership site and add any future reports to it.
I also created a viral bundle which has 2 squeeze pages a sales page and a thank you page. The branding process is slightly different than what I have used before and instead of having a report which you run through branding software it is all done online.
How the branding process works for my new reports is easy once you have done it once or twice. Click a link, add your affiliate ID and then either download your branded report or give out a link to your report stored on my server.
My new site is at http://www.viralreportprofits.com and you can help yourself to the reports which can help you get traffic, build your list and make some money.
Get into viral and spread yourself about.
Recently I have joined a few giveaway events with mixed results.
I think they are a good way to increase your subscribers but there are just too many of them to keep track of. Even using the excellent Push Button Giveaways 2.0 which makes joining an event so easy, I still find I almost disappear up my own funnel at times.
Some of the larger events can be profitable for you if you get your gift near the first page but if you are on page 38 it can be a waste of time.
I decided to try out some smaller events and I think that you have a better chance of getting subscribers when your gift is not too far away from top spot. They work by rotating the gifts according to clicks sent to your link, so if you don’t promote the event you drop down the rankings.
Currently I am involved in a large mini event, if it can be described as such. There are 32 gifts on offer and some top marketers are vying for page one in an attempt to get maximum sign ups to their list.
Luckily for me, my gift started on page one and now it is game on to try to keep it there.
I also have started to run my own events inside my Traffics Cool site which started life as a traffic site but has now grown to traffic and list building with a smattering of Internet Marketing stuff thrown in.
Actually, I think I have created a monster as it craves new content each month. There are over 100 reports which can be branded to help with traffic and list building and 3 separate courses from list building to personal and professional growth.
There are 10 free list building reports on offer just for becoming a free member and you can do that at http://www.traffics-cool.com. It would be great to have you along as a member.
Easy Video Suite Bonus
I think Omar has it covered so it’s over to him!
Have you installed the Firefox find and replace add on?
I just did and it saved me a lot of time with one of my Aweber lists.
Did you know that if you create a list in Aweber and don’t create a welcome email all subscribers will show as last message received 1001.
That’s not a problem until you decide to create a sequence of emails and you would like your current subscribers to see your new messages.
To enable all existing subscribers that show as last message received 1001 to receive your new message sequence you have to change 1001 to 0.
I just recently did that with a list of over 1,000 and it took a while. I then decided to create an autoresponder sequence to another list and it was another one that I created without a welcome message.
I had used ctrl f to find 1001 but there wasn’t a way to replace it so I did a quick search and found there was a Firefox add on that did the job.
The moral of this story is always create a welcome message in Aweber it will save you a lot of time later.
How To Speed Up Your WordPress Site
Recently I have been tearing my hair out trying to speed up one of my sites that wasn’t loading for ages. I deactivated every plugin one by one and whilst I was doing that I made a promise to myself – only install plugins which I need.
Strangely as if by magic I had an email from someone at Site Pro News. To be honest I don’t remember signing up for it and it could well have been spam.
Anyhow, there was a link to something I thought said list building but when I got there it was link building. I was just about to close the page when I saw a link to a video about how to optimise your WordPress Blog.
I had a look and you can too at http://videos.sitepronews.com/video/9078/Optimize-your-WordPress-Website-for-FREE.
I only intalled the W3 Total Cache plugin, followed the instructions in the video and my site loaded much quicker.
I had given up somewhat with my Cycling site as the big G had fallen out with it and my visitors had reduced dramatically. Maybe the fact that nobody could get the page to load might have something to do with it aswell.
I am off now to check out the other tips in the video and one in particular about security seems a good place to start. I will let you know how I get on.
Recently I have had two holidays to look forward to. One I am just back from, which was a great week on the Norfolk Broads with my family and the next one at the end of this month is a lads trip to Benidorm.
Now getting back to my subject line. Whilst dreaming of our holidays my wife decided she would join Weight Watchers as she felt she had put on a little weight.
She even bought some scales and I said I would weigh myself but being an active gym goer, playing badminton and cycling there would be no problem.
“What the …. you have bought a dud set of scales” I said.
Obviously she hadn’t and I had put on almost 28 lb in 2 years and all whilst still exercising regularly.
So on the 22nd February 2012 my weight was 15 st 2 lb (I still haven’t got the hang of kg).
This is were the mind part comes in…
As my holidays and weight loss were now firmly in place in my mind, I found I was becoming less interested in my online activities.
I feel the reason for this is twofold.
Firstly I now had a fight with my weight which I wasn’t prepared to lose and secondly for a while now I haven’t felt I was getting anywhere online. I was working long hours and for very little reward.
A meeting with my accountant confirmed my fears that my online account was well and truly in the red.
Time to rethink my strategy and take a long look at where I had spent my money and what has and hasn’t worked.
After my next trip (if I survive) I will have a full evaluation and post here exactly what has happened and what I am doing to correct it.
Enough doom and gloom and back to my fitness regime.
A while ago I bought rights to a number of membership sites and one of them was about fitness.
As I have been going to the gym for years and probably in a rut I decided to give it a try http://davewhitworth.com/resources/IdealFitnessSystem
Following the principles of the early lessons I soon realized that I was probably doing too much cardio and not enough weights.
Anyway, I had to slightly adapt it to suit my cycling and badminton but 16 weeks later I have lost 23 lbs and that is with a week away when food and drink was not restricted.
So overall I am delighted with my fitness results and when I concentrate on my online efforts once again I will turn around what at this moment is rather disappointing but not yet terminal.
Watch this space!
